You against Me

There are things I want to say, things I want to feel, A life I want to live. And then there are things you want me to say, Or not. Ways you want me to act, looks like we'll both be disappointed. So, I guess it's you against me. And right now I choose me. No one will ever put me ahead of them. So it's time I be selfish and do so myself. I don't know if it's the pressure you put on me to please you or my cowardice to defy you but I've tried to change myself to suit you, and clearly that hasn't worked. Maybe its not me but you. Maybe instead of changing myself to suit you, it's time I changed you for someone who'll understand. So forgive me, for I have learnt to forgive you, sometimes to my own expense. But there will be no more of that. From now, i be me. I live the life I want to, deal with things my way.So from here on in, I face you, naked and vulnerable, with honesty my weapon and everything we share my only defense. I hope you understand. Forgive me, for I have learnt to forgive you, because I guess in the end, it's you against me. xoxo |
